Here is my "painter's pallet" for my next project. Instead of paint to create a picture, I look for wood with different colors and defined and unique grain patterns to create this art.

This is the piece I am starting on now. Along with the rooster, this is my first original pattern that I have made myself. I will be making both the butterfly & daisy and another rooster.

Creating the patterns and getting the pieces ready to cut takes as much time as the actual cutting, assembling and sanding of the project.

These are the pieces I was able to cut out today, I have a long way to go!

I completed the rooster and sold it at the Athens Antique and Art show this month, now I am excited to begin work on the butterfly and daisy again!

I have all the pieces for the daisy and the butterfly legs and antenna cut, I will use a woodburning tool to apply the back legs to the piece. I am excited to start cutting the butterfly pieces!

Here is the finished product! It ended up taking me 3 weeks to get this piece the way I wanted, but I think it was worth it! I am very pleased with the outcome!
